Multiversus Cinematic Trailer Reveals New Fighters, Including Iron Giant (VIDEO)
Video gaming has many popular genres of gameplay structures, with perhaps one of the most popular being fighting games. The influence of Super Smash Bros. has been felt quite deeply not only in its prevalence in fighting game tournaments, but also in companies making games similar to Super Smash Bros. This has commonly happened in recent years with companies that have numerous popular characters to utilize, such as last year’s Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Warner Bros. announced their own crossover fighting game last year, called Multiversus. Now, Warner Bros. has released a new Multiversus cinematic trailer that reveals new fighters.
Warner Bros. has released a new Multiversus cinematic trailer on their official YouTube channel for the game. The trailer begins with the game’s version of Batman at home in the Batcave, when he is suddenly whisked away into the world of the Amazons. Not long after his arrival, none other than Shaggy Rogers from Scooby-Doo appears near him and jumps into the safety of the Caped Crusader’s arms. Suddenly, the pair are met by the unlikely duo of Bugs Bunny and Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. After Arya blocks a failed Batarang thrown by Batman, the two pairs face off against each, mirroring the team-based gameplay that Multiversus will spotlight as its primary unique feature.
The Multiversus cinematic trailer also features other previously revealed fighters, including Harley Quinn, Jake from Adventure Time and Garnet from Stephen Universe. Some new fighters making their implied announcement in the trailer include Taz from Looney Tunes and The Iron Giant from the 1999 animated film of the same name. A group shot of fighters also reveals Velma from Scooby Doo as a fighter as well. The trailer then confirms that the closed alpha version of the game will begin on May 19th. With such a varied cast of characters to choose from, Multiversus is shaping up to be a really unique fighting game in the wide scope of the fighting game genre. Zoinks!
