Monster Hunter Film Adaption Receives $60 Million Budget, Production Begins This Fall
This year’s release of Monster Hunter World was a huge success drawing in new fans from all over the globe. While there’s also been a Monster Hunter film adaption on the table for some time, it was only recently announced that Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich had been cast as lead for the film. The film will be headed up by Paul W. S. Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt also of Resident Evil fame.
Similar to Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, a recent report indicates that the movie is set to be filmed in and around Cape Town, South Africa. The film will also feature the talents of the special effects company Mr. X, which promises to deliver a highly stylish big screen adaption of the Monster Hunter franchise. The production company taking the reins of the film, Constantine, not only wishes to create a powerful rendition but hopes to turn the project into a series as well.
Monster Hunter World is available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and has become Capcom’s best selling game of all time, shipping out over 7.9 million copies since its late January release. PC players will be able to play the game as well later this year. Will this Capcom franchise turn into another great example of a video game movie done right or will it fail like so many adaptions before it?
