Hunt: Showdown Has Changed Drastically From Original Project (VIDEO)

Hunt: Showdown

Hunt: Showdown was revealed back in May of this year, however before that it was called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age and has changed almost entirely from that original project. A new dev diary explains the growth and evolution of Hunt: Showdown from its beginnings as a Left 4 Dead-like action brawler/shooter title to the current co-op horror hunter that it’s become.

Developed by Crytek USA, the original title called Hunt: Horrors of the Guilded Age would be a 4-player co-op vs environment title. After the financial issues within Crytek, the game was moved to the Frankfurt office where the team looked at how viable the game might be. That team did not have the skill set necessary to complete Horrors of the Guilded Age and ended up changing the project entirely leaving fans with Hunt: Showdown.

Hunt: Showdown

Players will be able to track and kill various dangerous monsters while fending off rival hunters during the late 19th century within dark errie environments such the swamps and bayous of Louisiana. Even after completing a mission, players will still need to extract themselves before they’re safe. It will be a title filled with tense action, with danger hiding around the corner.

There are a lot of games coming out soon following a darker and more eerie tone featuring monsters and the supernatural, such as Vampyr. Is this the start of a new era in gaming? If you’re looking for more gameplay of Hunt: Showdown – you’re in luck, much of the gameplay seen in the dev diary is also a part of a trailer released during E3 this year.
