Horizon Zero Dawn Comic Series SDCC-Exclusive Cover Revealed
With major entertainment events cancelling this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, many nerd-favorite conventions have taken to the Internet to provide safe, digital experiences in place of traditional physical events. One major annual event that had no choice but to go digital this year has been San Diego Comic Con. Many beloved franchises are going to be present during this digital event, including the Horizon series that first originated on PlayStation 4. Followers of Aloy’s adventures were recently elated at the announcement of Horizon Forbidden West for PlayStation 5. To help occupy fans until its release, a new Horizon Zero Dawn comic series will be starting soon and has an exclusive SDCC cover.
San Diego Comic Con recently held a panel that provides new looks at the Horizon Zero Dawn comic book series on their official YouTube channel. In the panel, Titan Comics’s Andrew Sumner & Duncan Baizley spoke with comic writer Anne Toole and artist Ann Maulina about their work that brought the world of Horizon to comic book form. Also present in the panel are Guerrilla Games’s Ben McCaw, Gilbert Sanders, and Jan-Bart van Beek to elaborate on their involvement with the project, making sure it aligns with Guerrilla’s vision for the franchise’s existing and future lore.

To celebrate the new Horizon Zero Dawn comic book series, a special SDCC-exclusive version of Issue #1 is being made available for pre-order. This SDCC-exclusive is special because it has unique cover art made by Peach Momoko. Horizon Zero Dawn #1 will be made available in traditional comic book stores and online retailers on August 5th, with a list price of $3.99. It is great to see Horizon Zero Dawn crossing over into other entertainment mediums besides gaming. Hopefully this is the beginning of new Horizons for Aloy and friends to explore.
