Avowed Obsidian RPG Revealed With Skyrim-esque Cinematic Trailer (VIDEO)

Today’s Xbox Games Showcase kicked off with quite the bang, showing off our first look at gameplay for Halo: Infinite. It seems like a bunch of other dev studios have also brought their A game, with Obsidian Entertainment having multiple items to announce during the event. Following the reveal of the studio’s upcoming The Outer Worlds expansion, Peril on Gorgon, the developer officially revealed its new Skyrim-esque first-person RPG, Avowed.

Revealed via cinematic trailer, Avowed appears to feature a similar aesthetic as Skyrim, with the trailer showing off castle walls, great and sweeping landscapes, and, of course, angry skeletons. Towards the end of the trailer we see the player’s character busting out a shiny sword and casting some pretty nifty rune-based magic before the trailer comes to a close. Check it out below:

Not much else is known about Avowed, with the video’s description simply stating that the game is Obsidian Entertainment’s next epic “first person RPG set in the fantasy world of Eora.” Still, as mentioned, the game appears to be giving off some serious Skyrim vibes, and meshing that with next-gen visuals should make for a pretty solid contender for your hard-earned money.

Avowed is now in development for Xbox Series X.
