Horizon Forbidden West Goes Gold With First PS4 Gameplay (VIDEO)

Horizon Forbidden West Goes

The future of the PlayStation 5 is looking bright, with many major titles coming to the Sony console later this year. One of the biggest of these next original titles is Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to the well-received Horizon Zero Dawn. While the game has been specifically developed to take full advantage of the PS5’s current-gen technology, Guerrilla Games has promised that the game will still provide an immersive experience on PS4. The game had been hit with delays during its development, but fans hoped it would stick to its release this February. Now, Sony has revealed new PlayStation 4 gameplay as Horizon Forbidden West goes gold.

Sony and Guerrilla Games released a new post on the official PlayStation Blog about Horizon Forbidden West. Guerrilla Games’ Studio Director and Executive Producer Angie Smets announced the news that Horizon Forbidden West goes gold alongside the new post. She took the opportunity to thank Guerrilla’s hard work in completing the game in time for its launch on February 18th. For those unaware, “going gold” refers to the completion of the final retail version of the game to be put on discs and digital stores. This, of course, still leaves it open for the team to develop more fixes for a day-one patch.

The blog post also showed the first looks at the game performing on PlayStation 4, though it should be noted that the footage was retrieved using a PS4 Pro. The footage shows the first look at the Utaru tribe that lives atop old radar dishes. We also see Aloy taking on the ferocious enemies, Clamberjaw and Bristleback. It is good to know that Guerrilla Games has devoted themselves to providing a quality experience on both generations of consoles, and it is great that Horizon Forbidden West goes gold, just as PS5 owners have been looking for a new game to enjoy.
