Limited Edition Pokemon Prints Now Available Through Pokemon Center

Pokemon Center

A brand new set of Limited Edition Pokemon prints are now available for purchase, if collecting rare pieces is just as impressive as catching all the Pokemon! What makes them so rare? According to the Pokemon Center, an online shop that sells clothing and collectibles for your favorite Nintendo title, these prints start off as hand-carved wooden boards designated for each imprint of color, before the image is then pressed onto handmade paper. This style of art is known as ukiyo-e style, which dates back to the 17th century.

Not only do these images stand out for their beautiful art form, but they also capture the feel of traditional Japanese art by blending the visage of creatures from both Pokemon Red and Blue with classic imagery from Japan. The first print, called Port of Vermillion City, is based on a landscape from Hiroshige Utagawa’s 53 Stations of the Tokaido. The second print, which is called Silence Bridge, is inspired by Yoshitoshi Tsukioka’s Gojo Bridge, an Episode from the Life of Yoshitsune and features a battle with a newly-awoken Snorlax on the bridge along Route 12.

These images are truly magical to look at, though the rush for these orders may be very limited. For any fans looking to run over to the Pokemon Center, keep in mind that they will cost customers about $450, and only 50 of them will be available for each image. For the intrepid Pokemon trainer, it is a must, so make sure to hurry over and order one before they run out!
