Hideo Kojima In Talks With Junji Ito About Developing A Horror Game (VIDEO) (UPDATED)
UPDATE: Since the below interview gained traction, Junji Ito has taken to Twitter to clarify what was said regarding being in talks with Hideo Kojima about working on a horror game together. In an effort to lower expectations to a more reasonable level, Ito stated that the talks in question were simply a discussion that took place at a party and not anything official. “I said casually that I received an offer from Mr. Kojima, but in reality, it was a remark made at a party where he said, “If there is an opportunity, I may ask for your help”,” Ito said (translation via Eigogamejikkyo). “I apologize to Mr. Kojima and all of the fans to whom I may have given false hope.” The original story is as follows.

Horror fans were essentially robbed when the plug was pulled on Silent Hills and Hideo Kojima parted ways with Konami. The playable teaser for the now-cancelled game is often held high among the best in the genre, despite it not being a full game. That said, it would appear that Kojima is currently in talks with renowned horror mangaka Junji Ito about developing a new horror game.
Word of these talks with Hideo Kojima happens to come from Ito himself, who recently delivered the information during a Comic-Con interview. “I do know director Kojima and we have been in conversation that he may have a horror-based game that he may be doing, and so he has invited me to work on that, but there are no details on it yet,” Ito said via a translator. You can check that out at the 34:46 minute mark in the video below:

Now that Hideo Kojima has gotten Death Stranding to even more players with its launch on PC, there is certainly no denying that the acclaimed director is working on something. As it would seem, it looks like that something is possibly a horror game with Junji Ito, but we will have to wait for more information. Ito, who is best known for his Gyo, Tomie, and Uzumaki series, was originally going to be a concept artist on Silent Hills, but we all know how that ended.
In the meantime, Death Stranding (which has a dash of horror elements) is currently available on PC and PlayStation 4. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as we continue to learn more about what Hideo Kojima is working on and if it is going to include Junji Ito.
