Henry Cavill Wants to Play Geralt In ‘The Witcher’ Netflix Series
The Witcher Netflix series is based on the fantasy books written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Back in June, casting for the series began and there’s a large number of characters who came into the spotlight. During that time, there have been quite a few actors that have spoken out as being interested in being a part of such an amazing project, such as Mark Hamill who expressed a desire to embody the character Vesemir earlier this year. Another actor has recently revealed that he would be interested in taking on the role of the protagonist Geralt of Rivia.
While in a Mission Impossible: Fallout interview with Superman’s Henry Cavill, the actor revealed his fondness for the franchise having read all the books and recently re-played through the Witcher 3. When asked whether or not he would be interested in taking on the role of Geralt, Cavill expressed that he would “absolutely” be interested and “that would be an amazing role” to fill.
Netflix has yet to reveal who will have the honor of playing Geralt however there are quite a few candidates that could make great options such as Anson Mount, Mads Mikkelsen, or Josh Hollowy. Perhaps even Jim Caviezel, who appeared in the show Persons Of Interest as a fairly stoic character running in a similar vein as Geralt does in the games.
We would also be amiss if we didn’t mention the infamous cosplayer Ben from Maul Cosplay who not only officially represents the character under CD Projekt RED’s employ, but he nails the character so perfectly that it is almost scary. Don’t forget he also made his own fan film as Geralt, which instantly sold the world on his portrayal.
Are there any other actors you’d like to see take up the mantle of the “White Wolf”? With any luck, fans will learn the casting picks soon, including fan favorites such as Triss, Yennefer, Ciri, and more.
