If you’re a fan of the long running Starcraft franchise, you’ll be happy to know that Blizzard reportedly has plans to take a trip back to their roots by remastering the original Starcraft game. Last year, a rumor of Starcraft HD was posted on iNews24 (with some very helpful translations by Kotaku), which stoked some pretty intense feelings about a chance to experience the beloved game in a new generation. However, without a lot of word from Blizzard on the project, it seemed that the news would remain just a rumor after all.

Now, it seems that that rumor has been resurfaced after its year long hiatus. Posted on Spots Seoul, a Korean esports website, Blizzard seems to be seriously shooting for remastering the original Starcraft, which could be a great addition to Starcraft fans’ libraries. The announcement claims that an official announcement from Blizzard could go live sometime next week, with a possible release date for the remastered version sometime in May or June. What’s also nice is that it seems Starcraft: Remastered will not be updating its game play and will solely focus on remastering the graphics and visuals of the game instead. The game will also reportedly utilize Battle.net support with the new launch of the game. This announcement does seem to be too good to be true, though it’s nice to think we could actually get official word from Blizzard at some point in the near future.
