New Harry Potter Mobile Game Will Let You Become A Hogwarts Student

Harry Potter Mobile Game

J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, was released twenty years ago, and even after two decades, fandom for the Wizarding World is still going strong. New stories set in Harry Potter’s universe continue to be made, including the new series of Fanstastic Beasts films, and new stories written by Rowling herself. Harry Potter has also been expanding more into interactive entertainment. Recently, a Pokémon Go-like Harry Potter AR game was confirmed to be in the works, and now, a new separate Harry Potter mobile game has also been announced.

Warner Bros. has announced the new mobile game, titled Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Developed by Jam City in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the title will be published under the Portkey Games label, which WB created for specifically publishing Harry Potter titles. VentureBeat has released an extensive amount of details about the new game after conducting an interview with Jam City President and Chief Operating Officer Josh Yguado. It will reportedly be a mobile RPG that lets the player create an avatar and begin their studies at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Familiar Hogwarts activities, such as Defense Against the Dark Arts and Dueling Club, as well as appearances by popular characters like Dumbledore and Harris will be featured in the forthcoming title. Yguado also acknowledged that Hogwarts Mystery will not only be different from previous action-focused Harry Potter games by focusing on story elements, but will also be quite different from the previously announced mobile AR Harry Potter game, Wizards Unite. We will see just how different when the game launches for iOS, Android, and Amazon Marketplace next year.
