Halo: Reach PC Already Has Unofficial Mod Support

Halo: Reach

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has finally hit PC, kicking things off with the iconic tale of Noble Team in Halo: Reach. The developers have a solid plan for working through each title in the collection individually and there’s sure to be plenty of official support from 343 Industries for quite a long time. Sadly, mods aren’t officially supported at the moment, though thankfully there are still ways to get some Thomas the Tank Engine Wraiths (or whatever else players aim to bring to the table).

The developers at 343 Industries plan on bringing some official mod support to Halo: Reach sometime next year, but in the meantime, fans hoping to get an unorthodox Halo experience can do so by simply turning off the Anticheat countermeasures.

A recent Q&A on Reddit saw a response in regards to the future of mod support on the Master Chief Collection with a 343 employee explaining the process and stating that at the moment players will only be able to mess around with the campaign and custom matches. Mods will be unavailable for online matchmaking but maybe in the future players will be able to have some experience like back when Halo: Custom Edition was popular.

We’re still working to improve this down the road, but for now you will have an option when you launch to bypass anti-cheat. This will allow you to play around with campaign and customs but not allow you to play any match-made games.”

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now available for PC.
