Godfall Revealed By Gearbox At The Game Awards 2019 (VIDEO)
This year’s Game Wards ceremony has brought about quite a few new impressive announcements for upcoming titles alongside the awards given out through the night. One, in particular, is that of Godfall, a new third-person title coming from Gearbox Studios and Counterplay Games.
Gearbox has an impressive resume of titles, though many have been first-person like the hilarious Borderlands franchise. Still, they aren’t unknown for bringing fans third-person gameplay as well such as Risk of Rain 2. The reveal of Godfall indicates that the title is set to bring fans a familiar loot oriented experience, but this time with more slashing instead of shooting and explosions. Fans can experience the title solo or join up with friends for co-op with up to three players.
As far as setting is concerned, it appears as though the game will be during a thousand-year war before an Apocalypse. Though there isn’t much known outside of the trailer shown at the Game Awards this year, Counterplay Games CEO Keith Lee gave a little insight into what the developers hope to accomplish in a recent statement.
We’re innovating with Godfall to provide a fresh take on action RPGs by rewarding skill-based offensive gameplay and making every hit matter. Namely, we want to feed into that yearning for the next best piece in your character build, so we plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure there’s meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles.”
Godfall is expected to arrive during the holiday season of next year for PlayStation 5 and PC through the Epic Games launcher.
