New God Of War Trailer Shows Off Bonding Between Krato And His Son … And A Soul-Eater (VIDEO)

Combat Trailer

Kratos and his son face multiple foes in the latest combat trailer for God of War, which was released earlier today kicking off PlayStation’s live event at Paris Games Week. The video shows off some of the combat players will be using throughout the game as well as some of the dangerous creatures players will witness in the world. The latest God of War trailer also delves a little deeper into the relationship between father and son.

The combat trailer opens with Kratos and Atreus almost walking into a Soul Eater before the God of War  holds them back to observe the creature. Atreus then explains that if they’re devoured by the soul eater there is no way to enter Valhalla, Hell, or any kind of Afterlife. As the creature pays them no attention and moves through a heavy gate, Atreus also mentions that his mother had made them out to be more terrifying than what he had just witnessed. After imparting some fatherly wisdom, Kratos invites his son to follow him as he jumps down to immediately enter into a different kind of fight.

The enemies featured in the trailer have been seen before but here fans are able to catch a small glimpse at some of the abilities Kratos will be using throughout the game. Some of the mechanics include the Boomerang-like throw of his axe, powerful swings that damage enemies without even hitting them, a ground pound that does damage within a small area, and more. Throughout the battle, players will hear Atreus calling out enemy locations, items, and traps which can be used against Kratos’ foes.

After going through the same heavy gate the Soul Eater had gone through the screen cuts to black which normally signals the end however in this trailer audio continues to play, a creepy singing voice rings through as the screen shows the title and release season scroll through. Then a humanoid figure with a glowing skull mask screeches towards the viewer. What horrors await Kratos and Atreus in the lands of the Norse gods?
