Gears 5 Sees Halo: Reach Crossover DLC In New Trailer (VIDEO)
With Gears 5 just around the corner, it seems that the company is looking to take advantage of the massive followings of two major Microsoft franchises, bringing characters from Jalo: Reach into the game’s multiplayer through DLC.
It was announced at this year’s Gamescom alongside a new story trailer that both Spartans Emile-A239 and Kat-B320 would be making an appearance in Gears 5’s Versus and Horde modes as well as the new game variant coming to the title: Escape. Not only will the original actors be reprising their roles for this DLC pack but there will also be a variety of Halo: Reach-themed cosmetics, including a skin for the adorable flying robot-companion Jack.
Within Gears 5’s Horde mode, the characters each have their own unique Ultimate abilities to bring to the fight. Emile and Kat will be no different bringing their own Halo-themed abilities to the table. Emile’s ultimate ability is to place a dropshield while Kat is able to use the holographic decoy ability. It’ll be interesting to see just how effective these two abilities will be in the various game modes, though just being able to roadie run as a Spartan will be a major appeal for some.
Gears 5 is set to release on September 10th of this year for PC and Xbox One. The Halo crossover won’t extend to the massive Gears 5 storyline, but seeing Spartans in the multiplayer is going to be amazing in its own right.
