Gears 5 Leak Details Open World, 4K and 60 FPS Gameplay
Though Gears 5 news hasn’t flowed as consistently since last year’s E3 showcase, it appears much more of the shooter is being planned for Microsoft’s 2019 event following the surface of several details over the last few weeks. Developer The Coalition recently teased their high aspirations for the future of the franchise, and by the looks of a new leak, the next Gears may very well live up to that promise.
From the looks of a seemingly official Microsoft document, quite a bit about Gears 5 has been revealed, including the game’s major emphasis on an open-world setting of Sera. “As Kait you must journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears world to fight for what’s left,” reads the document. “Skim across glaciers, sail over deserts and descend into sunken ruins to discover the largest and most diverse Gears world ever created.”
The document also makes mention of it’s varied supplemental modes, confirming cooperative play across local split-screen, online, or “battle alongside your friends anywhere with cross-play between Xbox One and PC.” The leak also professes the game’s crisp presentation, touting the ability to “play every mode in 4K Ultra HD resolution with stunning HDR at a smooth 60 frames per second.” In addition, the leak teases further information down the line, suggesting plenty of “additional features, co-op and competitive modes still to be announced.”
As the document was uploaded to the official Microsoft website (it’s since been taken down), all these details would at the very least seem official, even more so considering this fresh direction lines up with what’s been teased in the past. Still, it’s likely still best to keep these details in the “unofficial” category, especially as high-quality fake leaks are becoming a common occurrence in this day and age.
Gerars 5 is expected to release for PC and Xbox One sometime in 2019.
