Final Fantasy VII Remake Reportedly Releasing On PC & PS5 With New Content
We’re getting close to a year now since the release of the Final Fantasy VII Remake and there’s been no word from Square Enix about the title coming to other platforms. While we await patiently for such news, though, a new rumor has surfaced claiming that the remake will be coming to PC and PS5 with brand new content.
Resetera user Navtra took to the forums to claim that the Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to PC and PS5 not just with enhanced features, but with brand new content as well. They also claim that the remake won’t be coming to Xbox consoles, something previously considered to be inevitability with enough time. “Here’s what I last heard, though: It’s releasing for PS5/PC (No Xbox) and it’s a bit more substantial than a resolution increase,” Navtra said. “There’s new story content.”
As for what new story content they could be referring to, that’s currently anyone’s guess. Square Enix could go a more episodic route by putting players into the shoes of Jessie or Biggs as there’s plenty of off-screen time to be explored between the two of them. Both characters could be made playable during the assault on Sector 7, for example, and Biggs disappears for a while when he makesg his way towards the entry point for the second reactor the team sabotages. Another distinct possibility is the previously reported cut content featuring Tifa.
As always, one should take these leaks and rumors with a grain of salt. That said, Navtra has in the past been correct with their early Final Fantasy information, so they may not be far off.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently available on PS4. Part 2 of the Remake series is now in development.
