Dragon Age 4 Setting Seemingly Teased By New Short Story Collection

Recently, it was revealed that some of BioWare’s developers were pulled away from their work on Anthem to work on Dragon Age 4. Now that the title is in full development mode and backed by the majority of the studio, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before our suspicions on the game’s setting are confirmed, or proven false. To that end, an upcoming short story collection set in the same universe has provided us with yet another hint on where the events of Dragon Age 4 will be taking place.

A new collection of short stories written by several BioWare writers has been announced. Titled Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights, even the collection’s subtitle should at least be vaguely indicative for those of you that have played through the entirety of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Without giving anything away for those that haven’t played DA:I (shame on you, go play it!), Tevinter has for the most part only been referenced throughout the games in the series, though it was more heavily mentioned towards the end of the latest title in the series.

It should also be noted that this isn’t the first medium that has offered to peel back the proverbial curtain that keeps the Tevinter Imperium shrouded in mystery. The Inquisitor’s companion Dorian has plenty of insight to offer regarding the Magocracy, as did the Magekiller comics by Dark Horse. All in all, the currently available information on Tevinter paints an interesting portrait on what fans can expect, should our suspicions for Dragon Age 4 be proven accurate.

Dragon Age’s lead writer, Patrick Weekes, is listed as the editor for Tevinter Nights. He recently sent out the above tweet clarifying that, while Amazon has him listed as the sole author, the collection is in fact comprised of several short stories written by many other BioWare writers. Tevinter Nights is scheduled to release early next year and, given its title and the simple fact that Dragon Age 4 is currently in development, may very well be setting the groundwork for a lovely trip into Tevinter once the game finally releases. There is currently no description of the book available online, which only adds to the mystery.

Those interested in pre-ordering Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights can do so right here for $18.99. Dragon Age 4 is now in development.
