Gears Of War Movie: Dave Bautista Has “Tried Everything” To Be Cast

Dave Bautista Gears of War Movie

Actor and former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista has professed his love for Gears of War on numerous occasions, the imposing performer long expressing his “destiny” to be Marcus Fenix in Universal Studios’ upcoming Gears of War movie. While production on the anticipated shooter adaptation continues to get sporadic updates, it appears Bautista’s dedication still hasn’t been enough to get him cast in the coveted role.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, Bautista gave fans an update regarding his involvement in the GOW movie. Appreciative of the support, the actor explained that he’s “tried everything” to be part of the film, but the powers at be “could give AF,” suggesting Universal has not shown interest in casting the actor as of yet.

As of now, there isn’t much known about the Gears of War movie outside the film’s writer and the adaptation’s setting in an alternate reality. As such, the film has not yet entered the pre-production process, leaving potential casting still very much in the air. Whether or not Dave Bautista will end up part of the project remains to be seen, though, with the actor’s prominence in Marvel films and appearances in the James Bond franchise, one has to wonder why Universal hasn’t yet jumped at the in-demand actor’s offer.

Dave Bautista has called out being snubbed by projects in the past, notably addressing WWE’s seeming lack of interest in seeing the former wrestler return in 2018. Though, it appears his dedication eventually got through to the company, as “The Animal” memorably returned to the ring for a high-profile retirement match at Wrestlemania 35. With any luck, here’s hoping Bautista ends up doing the same in being cast for the Gears of War movie.
