DOOM Eternal Features The Most Powerful Doom Slayer Yet
Fans are still pretty pumped up from all of that magnificent DOOM Eternal gameplay that was shown during the opening presentation at this year’s QuakeCon. After all, id Software brought the heat with them, highlighting many of the new features that the upcoming sequel will contain. That said, the highly-anticipated title will also feature the most powerful Hell Walker we’ve ever seen.
Speaking in a recent interview, creative director Hugo Martin touched on the Doom Slayer’s abilities this time around. “He’s got a shoulder-mounted equipment launcher, which is pretty awesome,” Martin stated. “I mean, the main goal is to make him faster and more powerful, right, and so now when you shoot out equipment like grenades – and you saw the flamethrower – you don’t have to take your hands off the guns; you can do it at the same time.”
If the team is wanting to give fans a faster, bloodier experience when ripping demons to shreds, our bodies are prepared. Speaking of picking up the pace, game director Marty Stratton was also present during the interview and touched on the dash mechanic that was seen during the gameplay reveal. It “completely changes the feel of the game for the better,” he said. “It gives you an opportunity to dash in for a glory kill, cover larger spaces. You combine that with the meat hook, the new demon grapple hook off the super shotgun: adds a whole new level of improv capability to Doom combat.”
Needless to say, the ripping and tearing are going to be in abundance in DOOM Eternal, and if the recently revealed gameplay is any indication, it’s going to be one hell of a time. Luckily, players will have a plethora of power to fall back on when everything is in need of slaying. Besides, that Crucible Blade (seen above) is going to pack quite the punch.
DOOM Eternal is set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One at some point in the future. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
