Destiny 2 On The Cusp Of A “New Era,” Says Bungie
Recently, a rather stealthy Destiny 2 update was reported that removed Activision as the game’s listed publisher, once again separating the now Bungie-run game from its former shackles, if you will. Now, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, both Destiny 2 and its developer are poised to enter a “new era” that will likely drastically change minimally the former, hopefully for the better.
In the latest This Week At Bungie article, Destiny 2 community manager David “DeeJ” Dague took to the post to reveal that once the game’s Season of Opulence has launched and raid belts have been issued, the company will be “looking deeper into the future.” Further, Bungie will be revealing its plans for a “new era” for both the company and the popular MMORPG. There are unfortunately no more hints to be had, simply the community manager finishing his spiel with “buckle up and stay tuned.”
There is of course the possibility that this could be leading to a real of Destiny 3. While we’ve not heard much of anything about the as yet unannounced title, we’ve seen a few leaks and for all intents and purposes, the title may see a 2020 release. As such, this “new era” could be in relation to either a Destiny 3 reveal, or a transitional period that will begin in Destiny 2. E3 2019 is of course on the horizon, though whether or not we can expect to see anything regarding Destiny 3 is still suspect. For now, at least the developers are keeping us posted.
Destiny 2 is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
