Destiny 2’s Leviathan Raid Exploit To Remain Unfixed On Launch
Despite previous reassurances from Bungie, it appears that Destiny 2’s upcoming Leviathan Prestige Raid will remain somewhat broken when it launches next week. Although the harder version of the Leviathan Raid was supposed to launch a few days prior, Bungie delayed it due to an exploit that would make it impossible to determine which party of raiders cleared the raid first, and with it winning the accolades of “world first”. Bungie committed to fixing the Leviathan Raid exploit, claiming that the issue would be resolved by the time the prestige raid finally launched on its new date, October 18th. Unfortunately, it appears that the developer is coming up a bit short. In a recent news article over on the Bungie website, Bungie community manager Chris “Cozmo” Shannon had the unfortunate task of notifying the player base that while there is a fix for the Leviathan Raid exploit in the works, it will not be ready for the raid’s October 18th launch date.
Earlier this week, we postponed the launch of the Prestige Raid. An exploit was discovered that could cast doubt on the legitimacy of the fireteam who captures the coveted title of World First. We have been working on a fix, but the short-term solution contains too much risk. The last thing we want to do is fix an exploit some players are using, only to break other parts of the game for everyone. Because of this, we are pushing the fix off to a later date.”
With the raid launching despite its exploit still in place, many players may be wondering how Bungie will be able to verify which fireteam clears the prestige raid without using the exploit. Thankfully, the developer managed to figure out a way to verify which team clears the prestige raid with a ‘clean finish’. “One thing we did accomplish as part of our investigation was the creation of a way to verify a clean finish,” Cozmo said. “We can now detect if any teams use this exploit to gain an advantage. This will take some extra time to verify, but we will be able to crown the winners with the confidence they deserve.”
Destiny 2 is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The title launches for PC on October 24. So, thoughts on the latest news on the Leviathan Raid exploit?
