Death Stranding Director's Cut Gets A New Highlight Trailer (VIDEO)

Last month brought with it the announcement of Death Stranding Director’s Cut, a PS5 exclusive definitive version of the divisive IP from Hideo Kojima. Not much was shown during the initial reveal with the exception of some notably Solid Snake-like stealth mechanics, though it was framed in such a way that it was moreso meant to be a spoof on the Metal Gear franchise than anything else. Now, a new trailer for Death Stranding Director’s Cut has been released showing off all sorts of new features and content coming to the game, with nary a cardboard box in sight.

Towards the end of today’s State of Play presentation from Sony, the PlayStation company released a new highlight trailer for Death Stranding Director’s Cut. The trailer kicks off with a few familiar story beats before jumping into what to expect from the definitive edition of the game. This includes some advanced combat maneuvers, new story missions, and a few new weapons, which can be tested out in the firing range.

Shooting and drop kicking people aside, Sam also has a few new goodies that he can use to get his courier work done. This includes a cargo catapult that does exactly what you’d expect it to do, a support skeleton that will presumably allow him to carry more weight, and a ‘buddy bot’ that will run alongside Sam and carry cargo, though Sam can also rest a bit and have the mech carry him as well. Rounding things out is the new jump ramp for motorcycles and the Fragile Circuit, which lets players race, because why not?

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is slated to release on September 24, 2021 exclusively for PS5.
