Deadpool Invades These Popular Blu-Ray Covers Next Month
As most people on the internet probably know, Deadpool and its recent sequel are some of the most perfectly marketed films in recent memory, utilizing the character’s fourth-wall shattering humor to achieve great comedic effect. This ability to freely disobey continuity has led to amazing crossovers with the likes of The Golden Girls to the cover of Good Housekeeping, with plenty more featured in between.
One particularly genius piece of marketing saw the Merc with the Mouth invade numerous other Fox properties by hilariously photobombing their Blu-Ray covers. Among the 12 altered titles were the expected X-Men Apocalypse and Logan, as well as classics such as The Terminator and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Now, 6 more films are set to receive the gift of Wade Wilson, bringing the total of Deadpool cover cameos to 18.
Seen above, the covers for 127 Hours, Alien, City Slickers, The Day After Tomorrow, The Devil Wears Prada, and The Martian are now sporting the image of Deadpool, all of them hilariously at odds with the actual movies they represent. For those who wish to pick up one or all of these ridiculous reimaginings, they are currently exclusive to Walmart and Walmart.com with the 6 new covers going on sale starting August 7th.
Fox’s cover-crossing promotion comes a few weeks before the merc’s latest adventure Deadpool 2 arrives on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray. The theatrical film will hit shelves on August 21st alongside an extended “Super Duper $@%!#& Cut,” featuring an extra 15 minutes of deleted and alternate scenes.
What do you think? Are you endlessly entertained by these photobomb covers, or does it only make you want an Alien movie starring the unkillable Deadpool?
