Valve is Selling a Real-Life Counter-Strike: Global Offensive ‘Five Year Veteran Coin’

Five Year Veteran Coin

Veterans of Valve’s first-person shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have just been given access to some very cool, exclusive swag. A real-life version of the digital ‘Five Year Veteran Coin’ that CS:GO vets receive after owning the game on Steam for five years is now available for purchase, courtesy of the Valve Store on WeLoveFine. The store is now accepting pre-orders for the coin at a cost of $45. This includes the cost of worldwide shipping, though depending on the region, additional Import/Duty Fees may apply. The coins cannot be shipped to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Burma, Syria and Sudan.

The Five Year Veteran Coin is made from die cast zinc alloy, with the “5” in the front made of copper. The coin is 63mm in diameter and 3mm thick, and weighs 55.7 grams. It comes with a high quality display case with a see-through window, which can be hung on a wall using the built-in nail hang. The coin also comes with its own gun metal base, for those looking to display it outside the case.

There is, however, a small catch. Those that are looking to shell out almost fifty dollars for the collectible must first own the coin’s digital equivalent, which the store verifies by having you log in with your Steam credentials. If the coin isn’t found within the account’s inventory, the physical version cannot be purchased. According to the FAQ page, there are two requirements that must be met in order to have the Five Year Veteran Coin. The user must have owned a copy of any Counter-Strike game for more than five years without interruption (and currently own CS:GO). The user’s account also has to be in good standing (no VAC bans).

For those that do not meet the time requirement, not all is lost! According to the FAQ, this is merely the first purchasing opportunity for the Five Year Veteran Coin. Valve plans on offering more opportunities as more users receive the coin in-game. For those of you that are pre-ordering from this first batch of coins, the collectible will begin shipping out mid-June of this year.
