Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 May Allow Modding, According To Treyarch

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Mods are a wonderful thing for PC gamers, giving players pretty much the ultimate opportunity to create the game they want to play. It can have something to do with performance modification, or can be silly like the ever present Thomas the Tank Engine. Whatever the flavor, mods can be fun. Apparently, mods are also coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 … at least they are under consideration.

Treyarch has mentioned in the past that they would be open to modding and it looks like they might be taking that step with the upcoming Black Ops installment. According to a recent interview with GamerHub TV, Co-Studio Head Dan Bunting opened up a little bit about the possibility and what the future may hold for the franchise:

That’s a good question. At this point in time we’re not quite ready to talk about what the plans are for modding. Of course, people who have been with Treyarch for a long time know that we are big fans of the modding community. Many of our developers, we hire directly from the mod community, because they built a mod that got noticed. With Black Ops 3, we released mod tools for the first time in the franchise for many, many years. We’re big believers and supporters of the mod community, but we’re not quite ready to start talking about that yet.”

The latest Black Ops title will  be presenting a lot of firsts for the series, including the predicted battle royale mode. This makes it the perfect time to delve into even more aspects of what could be – including the beloved modding feature that players hold so dear.. Now if only they could control the cheaters a bit more …

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to release on October 12th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Sorry, Nintendo Switch fans!
