Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Mode Details Revealed
On Monday, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 debuts its Blackout beta, an 80-player Battle Royale mode. However, we still know very little about the franchise’s first foray into the absurdly popular game mode. Thankfully, we couldn’t wait until next week, and now we have plenty of details to tide us over until Monday.
In an article on Game Informer, Activision and Treyarch provided new information on Blackout, including characters, weapons, and gear. At launch, the mode will include 125 items for players to go to battle with. That includes 24 weapons, eight types of ammo, and 17 different attachments to trick out your guns. Protect yourself with 12 pieces of equipment, 3 armor and health tiers, and 17 consumable perks. That may seem a little light for a Call of Duty title, but players should expect these numbers to inflate over time. Additionally, the game is still in the beta stage, so the team could add more items prior to launch.
As for playable characters, Treyarch will include 20 characters in Blackout. The Battle Royale will combine new characters from Black Ops 4 and familiar faces from previous Call of Duty titles. That includes Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Vikto Reznov. In order to unlock all 20 characters, players will complete Blackout missions and challenges. Naturally, each character will have his or her own unique challenge to complete.
Treyarch seems to be giving players exactly what they want in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Three zombie modes should offer countless hours of insane co-op action. The game lacks a campaign mode, which makes sense given player’s complaints over multiple lackluster campaigns. Throw in some excellent 30 minute Battle Royale matches via Blackout, and this may be the franchise’s most player-friendly installment to date.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 12. For diehard fans of the game, GameStop is offering a Collector’s Box loaded with Call of Duty gear.
