Black Ops 4: Blackout Matches To Last Roughly 30 Minutes

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Now that the likes of PUBG and Fortnite have had a head start in the Battle Royale scene, it’s nearly time for two of the veteran shooter franchises to climb aboard the hype train. Battlefield V will feature a 64-player squad-based BR called Firestorm, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to have Blackout, it’s 80-player version of the popular game mode.

That said, more information about Blackout was recently revealed during a Black Ops 4 livestream held by Treyarch, including how long matches will run. According to the developer, a typical match in their Battle Royale mode will take an average of 25-30 minutes to complete. This is somewhat surprising, considering the amount of players and the seemingly quicker pace than other titles that feature the game mode. Of course, that is in addition to the fact that the map is smaller.

It’s tough to say how Blackout matches will be able to accomplish that amount of time, but with the beta arriving next week, we should hopefully find out soon enough. Speaking of which, Treyarch also assured fans that they will be rolling out daily updates during the testing phase to keep up with any issues that should arise.

Furthermore, the developer informed fans that some “secrets” could be found below the Nuketown portion of the map. Blackout will also feature a pre-match “deployment area,” which will allow players time to get familiar with various weapons. It was even confirmed that base jumping will be part of the Battle Royale mode in Blackout, and we can only imagine how that is going to play into all of the action going on.

Black Ops 4 is set to arrive on October 12th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For those wishing to get in on the beta, PS4 players will be first with the exclusive time, which begins on September 10th at 10am PT. Xbox One and PC join in after that on the 14th at 10am PT. Following that, the PC Open Beta will begin on the 15th at 10am PT, will all of the testing action coming to a close on the 17th at 10am PT.
