Dave Bautista On Upcoming Gears Of War Movie, “My Destiny To Play Marcus Fenix”

While it’s been known for a while there is a Gears of War movie being made by Universal, there has yet to be any casting decisions made for any of the iconic characters within the franchise. That being said, Dave Bautista has once again thrown his name in the hat to play protagonist Marcus Fenix, and has even gone so far as to say it’s his “destiny.”

Bautista recently sat down with IGN to read fan comments regarding the actor and the characters he’s played in movies past. One of these comments read “Put this man in Gears of War” to which Bautista readily agreed. The actor loved the suggestion and explained that he has been begging to play the part of the Gears protagonist for years. He added, “Come on dude, let’s do this. I’ve been begging for this part for years. This is my destiny to play Marcus Fenix.”

This isn’t the first time Bautista has expressed interest in the role. In a previous interview, he answered a fans question as to what his dream role would be in which he explained that he would love to play Fenix. He also mentioned that he has been pursuing the role for years, jokingly expressing that Universal is probably sick of taking his calls.

Henry Cavill recently expressed interest in playing Geralt for Netflix’s Witcher series and was recently confirmed to have gotten the role. With there being a precedent and such a large amount of interest and support for seeing Bautista play Marcus Fenix, hopefully it’ll be enough to bear fruit. I don’t see why John DiMaggio could not play him with a little fitness training the same voice and body could be there to give a true iconic role played by the real Marcus Fenix I just think Batista has the dark gritty voice for it the real voice actor has that pain in his voice that just makes it real.
