Destiny 2 Video Goes Into Why The Bungie Weapon System Is So Flawed (VIDEO)

Bungie has had one hell of a week so far after it was revealed that their in-game XP leveling system was completely … let’s be frank, jacked up. In fact, the backlash reached such a boiling point where they had to cancel their upcoming stream this week in order to attend to the issue at hand. To say that many fans are saying less than flattering things about the sequel is a massive understatement, but there is hope on the horizon for those looking for more content. Season 2 and Curse of Osiris are both on the horizon for the sequel – but as the mechanics, loot, and storyline begin to evolve, one fan can’t help but to put a big spotlight on the devs and their decisions within the new game.

YouTuber ‘The Legend Himself’ dug deep into the Destiny 2 weapon changes from the first game to explain why it was inherently wrong. It’s obvious to anyone who has played both games that the weapon picks are much fewer than the first game, and many players are finding an issue with the mandatory two gun variation that was put into focus. You can see what he had to say specifically about the Destiny overhaul in the video below to see why exactly he’s saying Bungie messed up:

The Legend Himself shows no mercy when digging into the way the weapon system is set up, and how it differs from the first Destiny. It doesn’t just affect the game as a whole, he says – the problems also bleed into the game’s PvP. PvP, or Player vs. Player, is a huge part of the post-campaign appeal. The “forced” focus on the powerful Rocket launchers limits players to hover around one weapon type – though arguably there are still a lot of choices to choose from and doesn’t hyper focus quite like he’s implying. But the point of how accessible Rocket Launchers are does bring up one of the many issues players keep bringing up: that Destiny 2 is tailored to the more casual player. But here’s the thing – Bungie has been clear about that since way before the game’s release. The focus on raids and prestige strikes adds that layer of challenge – but even those are impacted by the weapon changes.

With the upcoming livestream meant to showcase what is on the horizon for the future of Destiny 2 cancelled, and Bungie taking to more immediate concerns, it will be interesting to see how the mechanics of the game evolve with player feedback continuing to be more and more upfront. In an effort for transparency, will the Guardians of Destiny 2 finally get what they wanted?

There is no doubt that Destiny 2 has some room for improvement, and perhaps Season 2 will see much of that fan feedback reflected. Until then, Curse of Osiris brings an all new storyline come December 5th for all platforms. What do you think about YouTuber’s thoughts on the Bungie weapon system? What ways would you like to see it improved? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below, and don’t forget to check out DFTG on Twitter for gaming and entertainment news live 24/7!
