Destiny 2’s ‘The Dawning’ Celebration Is Coming – Featuring Unique Legendary Gear, Engrams, And More
Despite Bungie currently being on everybody’s naughty list, the show must go on. In the latest – and last of 2017 – blog post from Bungie, the developer has announced the details of the upcoming ‘The Dawning’ celebration in Destiny 2. The celebration, which partially mirrors the holiday festivities here in the real world – features snowball fights, weekly rewards, the return of Mayhem mode in the Crucible, and loads of Dawning-themed engrams and exotics.
The more popular hangouts within Destiny 2 are getting a makeover thanks to The Dawning celebration. Both the Tower and Farm have been given loads of festive cheer, featuring snowy weather, ginormous snowflakes, and plenty of snowbanks for some snowball fight ammunition. Attacking your friends with snowballs isn’t simply a fun out-of-combat action, though. In Strikes, players can also hurl snowballs at enemies in order to stun them and deal significant amounts of damage. Talk about getting into the holiday spirit!
On the more rewarding side of things, Bungie is also offering players special Dawning engrams by participating in both Crucible Mayhem mode and Strikes. Additionally, Tess’ inventory – some of which will change each week – will feature every Dawning-themed exotic: ship, ghost, sparrow, and emote. Holiday-themed legendary armor pieces will also be available for purchase using Bright Dust.
Of course, what’s the holiday season without a little giving? Players can pick up a Dawning Gift Schematic from the Bazaar, which can be used to craft unique gifts for both vendors and agents, in and outside the tower. Giving gifts will, according to Bungie, net players gifts in return. The Dawning Celebration begins on Tuesday, December 19, and will through until Tuesday, January 9. Destiny 2 is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
