After Leaks, Rumors, and More – Bungie Finally Confirms Destiny 2 Officially
Ok, so let’s be real – no one is surprised by this but after a week of leaked promotional material and endless speculation on what is to come for the future of the Destiny franchise, it is nice to see the official announcement that we will be getting our hands on this title this year. The announcement was vague and very to the point, but if the leaked material is to be believed, we are looking at a September 8th release date. Destiny 2 officially became confirmed by the following tweet below:

If you missed the leak that we reported earlier this week, here’s what can be summarized from the potential reveal. The dates on the promotional posters that were leaked online show an intended September 8th 2017 release date with a beta test run sometime prior to launch. The leak came via GameStop Italy and was not discounted by the publisher and developer themselves. Another tid-bit gathered was that it may very well be a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 4, coming to later platforms at a later date – but at this time? That’s all just speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt until Activision and Bungie chooses to announce a public confirmation.
The predecessor to this title first hit shelves back in 2014 and immediately took a hit in reputation with many players claiming that the game was monotonous, redundant, and have none of the story promised in earlier reveals within the actual gameplay. Bungie took this criticism and applied it to timely releases of additional content including The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and the ever popular Taken King expansion. Players world-wide took note of these changes and seemed to warm up to the title, but it looks like Bungie will not be making that same mistake twice. We reported earlier that it looks as though the company is making the effort to make the story have the impact fans want the first go around at launch and for that, we thank you.
Only time will tell what the future of the franchise will bring after Destiny 2 officially became a reality. Until we hear further information about the sequel, players can bide their time with the latest and final huge event withing the game ‘Age of Triumph’, which kicks off tomorrow. What do you guys think of the teaser? Not a lot to go on, but it does bring the promise of more information soon!
