Here’s Everything We Learned From Today’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 Assault on Theed Live Demo (VIDEO)

Battlefront 2 Assault

The EA Play live event was held today and marked the beginning of the many major E3 press conferences that will take place over the next week. EA chose to have the final game and highlight of their event be Star Wars Battlefront 2, as the confirmation of a new gameplay trailer making its debut during the event had many fans eager to watch the live stream. Immediately following all of the new announcements and trailers, EA held a live demo of the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 Assault on Theed gameplay which showed the multiplayer mode of the game in action.

The gameplay footage seen above from StoneMountain64 shows the Assault on Theed mode as it was played live. This match consisted of the Battle Droid forces attempting to take control of the royal palace of Theed as the Republic Army of clone troopers sought to defend it. The match starts with the droid army on the city streets, with both sides being able to make their way to the skies in either a Vulture Droid or a V-Wing fighter. We also now know there are different classes, much like the original 2 Battlefront games, such as the heavy trooper class which has more health than the average trooper and the jet pack clone troopers that can take flight in their personal, well… jet packs.

Also seen in this map are several land vehicles, such as the large AAT tank that the Battle Droid forces can use, and the AT-RT open cockpit walkers that the Republic forces have at their command. When the droid forces finally make it inside the palace, some players on the Battle Droid’s team were able to play as both Darth Maul and Boba Fett, while a Republic player was able to play as Rey. This definitely looks like an interesting feature, as these three heroes each represent a different trilogy, which makes the non-canonical mayhem in this game easier to appreciate as good ol’ fun.
