New ‘Batman Ninja’ Trailer Releases To Show The Joker And More In Epic Anime Style (VIDEO)

On at least three different occasions Batman has traveled back into time, namely through TV shows such as the Justice League and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Fans have seen various alternate Batmen from different time periods like Nazi Batman, a Russian Batman, even Batman as a Knight who fought King Arthur. The last place anybody would think to see the brooding hero is Japan yet, that’s precisely where fans will see the caped crusader end up. Batman Ninja is an anime movie in the works which will see the hero sent back to Japan during the Middle Ages.

This movie will see Batman and Joker sent back to another time and place due to a unexpected chemical reaction. Here in Japan, the Clown Prince of Crime becomes the most powerful ruler in the entire country, otherwise called the “Devil King of the 6th Heaven”. Many characters such as Alfred, Catwoman, Nightwing, Harley Quinn, and two iterations of Robins will also appear in the film with complete Middle Age Japanese redesigns. It’ll be up to the Bat-Family of Feudal Japan to take the Clown Prince of Crime down before he completely causes history to crumble.

The Batman Ninja anime movie was announced by Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Entertainment in October, just a few days ahead of New York Comic Con. Jumpei Mizusaki will head up the film as director, who is known for his technical animation work on various Mega Man games such as Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8. He also has producing duties for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure under his belt, as well. Takashi Okazaki, the creator of Afro Samurai, is to thank for the brilliant and stunning redesign of the iconic characters of the Batman universe and is one of the character designers of the anime movie.

Japan doesn’t seem like a place fans would expect Batman or the Joker to end up, but it definitely appears to work quite well. The anime movie will release sometime next year.
