Robert Pattinson Praises Final Fantasy VII In New Interview (VIDEO)

Only a few years have passed since the last time Batman was seen on the big screen, so naturally that means it is time for Warner Bros. to release a new film focused on the caped crusader. The cast of The Batman has been deep in the press tour events to promote the film, especially the new actor to don the cowl, Robert Pattinson. The new Bruce Wayne has been referencing his affinity for the character since his childhood in interviews lately, but one new interview has him gushing over another key cast of characters from his youth: the Final Fantasy VII heroes.

French outlet Clique X recently interviewed Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz to promote the new Batman film, with clips of the interview circulating online. One particular clip that fans have pointed out lately has been the interviewer bringing up their shared commonality with Pattinson: crying while playing video games. Namely, they are referring to Pattinson’s affinity for Final Fantasy VII. His co-star Kravitz is not as aware of the game, and continues to describe the game’s central love triangle as:

It’s a love triangle. Aeris (or Aerith, depending on what version of the game you had) she is the really kind girl who has super powers to heal everyone and make the world a better place. And then Tifa is like this sexy little thing who’s a thief that likes to wear the short skirt. And you’re like ‘I can’t decide.’ And then Aeris dies. Aerith at her peak, like, gets killed.”

Throughout his passionate plot description, Kravitz bemoans the trope of a woman character having to be the one to heal others, and the somewhat superficial reductions that the game and Pattinson reduced the female characters to. Still, Robert Pattinson has once again praised the classic game that many have discovered for the first time recently with the FFVII Remake. Who knows? This might spark interest in a live-action adaptation. Pattinson and Kravitz would certainly be good for the roles of Cloud and Tifa, respectively.
