Banjo Kazooie, Byleth And Terry Bogard Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Amiibo Revealed

Banjo Kazooie

One of the biggest games to provide ongoing updates the past few years has been Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. A big update was announced this week as content from the world of Minecraft is finally coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with new building mechanics, a new stage, and Steve joining the roster of fighters. Smash Bros. fans also know that these updates provide information about new amiibo figures, and now it appears that Banjo Kazooie, Byleth and Terry Bogard will finally receive the amiibo treatment.

Nintendo released their new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct presentation on their official YouTube channel earlier this week. Most of the presentation concerned the new Minecraft additions to the game, but other updates for the game were detailed towards the end. Around the 40:50 mark, Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai informs viewers about new amiibo figures. After mentioning that the previously announced Joker and Hero amiibo are available now, Sakurai unveils the new Banjo Kazooie, Byleth and Terry Bogard Amiibo figures.

In the video, Sakurai shows off the rare Banjo Kazooie amiibo prototype, and acknowledges the importance of Nintendo producing a figure of these Rare characters now owned by Microsoft. We also see the Terry Bogard and the P1 Byleth prototypes, although Sakurai does confirm that a P2 Byleth amiibo variant will not be made.

Sakurai also seems to imply that a Steve from Minecraft amiibo will be made, and cheekily acknowledges that the figure would be easier to mass produce given Steve’s blocky frame. The three new amiibo figures are currently scheduled to be released some time in 2020. Smash fans love their amiibo, and it’s great to see such great characters and also Byleth get the amiibo treatment!
