Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Reveals Details On Naval Warfare, Romance, And More
Assassin’s Creed Origins was a massive sprawling adventure through ancient Egypt, however the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey hopes to be even bigger and better. The Ubisoft franchise has always been all about “making history your playground” and Odyssey hopes to further that idea with various features such as a map that’s much larger than even that of Origins, expanding on the concept of Naval Warfare which was featured in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, and for the first time giving fans a chance to form their own romances within the series as well as a whole host of dialogue options.
Thanks to a recent AMA with Creative Director Jonathan Dumont, fans were able to gain a little insight on what to expect from the upcoming Assassin’s Creed title.
- The player can pet and tame many different animals, but there are no cats.
- The modern-day story is not optional, and narrative choices made by the players might result in more present-day content for those who want it.
- There will be “many” different opportunities for romancing characters, and it’s possible to opt out of them at any time.
- Clothes stay on during romance scenes.
- The game will have more content than Assassin’s Creed Origins.
- The overall map is bigger than Assassin’s Creed Origins’, but half of it is sea.
- In most cases, gear is not randomly placed and follows objectives that the players can set for themselves. Completing a full gear set grants a set bonus.
- You can unlock the abilities that suit your playstyle, from epic and over the top to down-to-earth assassin.
- There won’t be unlockable parachutes.
- You can’t customize the look of your characters, but you can mix and match equipment to achieve a different look. There won’t be dyes, but the hoot will automatically match the color of the chest piece.
- The player can ride a horse named Phobos.
Continuing on the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter, Dumont answered many questions as well. He explained that even though players are given a choice between two playable characters, there will be a canon storyline featuring Kassandra however that won’t effect how the events of the game play out in a right or wrong way.

With the freedom of choice coming to the title, many fans might be curious to know just how the choices they make might have an effect on the story and the game’s end. Dumont explained that the dialogue choices players make will have an effect on the ending, however he did not go into detail so as not to spoil anything.

According to Dumont, the title will include various features such as the ability to call allies to the player’s aid, the ability to upgrade ships and crew, parkour puzzles, a dynamic weather system, and much more. Odyssey will also feature multiple pieces of Eden, such as Leonidas’ Spear. With so many things coming to the title, it will surely keep fans entertained for quite some time.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set in a time before even Origins but will also continue the modern narrative featured in previous entry. The title is set to arrive on October 5th for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Let us know your thoughts on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and its vast array of features in the comments section below.
