Anthem Has Not Been Delayed, Confirms BioWare Developer

There have been rumors circulating of an impending delay for Anthem, easily the most anticipated game of early 2019. From the creators of the Dragon Age and Mass Effect universe a whole new world to discover and explore, but will studio fans have to wait a while longer? According to one particularly social BioWare developer, those rumors are simply false.

Recently, a fellow netizen known for leaking Sony’s reveal of the PlayStation 5 revealed that Anthem won’t be making its formerly announced February release date. From there on, it spread like a virus (it is the internet after all). However, the wonderful and reasonably transparent executive producer over at BioWare, Mark Darrah, has grand news for those preparing for the latest in cooperative action RPG. It’s not delayed.

Thank goodness! Though it was initially announced for a late 2018 launch, it was pushed into 2019 instead. As large of a game as Anthem is anticipated to be, there’s likely a plethora of fixes and polishes needed before they go gold. As for the game itself? The premise is an enticing one to explore. Despite the advancements in technology, mankind in the Anthem universe struggle to survive against an unforgiving environment full of diverse challenges and creatures. Here’s the official summary:

Upon an unfinished world, humanity struggles to survive in a savage environment full of diverse threats. Equipped with incredible Javelin exosuits, a faction known as the Freelancers seeks to tip the balance in mankind’s favor. In the beginning, the gods harnessed The Anthem, a source of pure creation. Wonderous lands erupted into existence. Colossal beasts, creatures, and monsters emerged. But before their work was complete, the gods vanished, leaving behind an unfinished world strewn with the instruments of their creation.

The power of The Anthem would not be contained, unleashing world-altering cataclysms, transforming and corrupting those that tried to wield its power. Humanity sought a way to survive, so our ancestors created the Javelin exosuits, handcrafted armor that gave us superhuman abilities. Our world remains in an eternal struggle between the power of The Anthem and the instruments of the gods who formed it. Today, the fate of humanity rests in the hands of a small band of Javelin pilots known as the Freelancers.
