Overwatch Announces Lunar New Year 2019 Event Dates
At the current rate, Overwatch players might be treated to a new event every month. We just wrapped up the game’s annual Winter Wonderland event, and now Blizzard is treating us to another festive occasion.
Over on the official Overwatch Twitter account, the team posted a teaser for the game’s annual Lunar New Year. At the end, fans learned that the Lunar New Year celebration runs from January 24 through February 18. The event celebrates the Year of the Pig, which begins February 5. Blizzard coordinated the dates so the Chinese New Year would land directly in the middle of their holiday celebration.

In the trailer, Soldier 76 plays with a táo (pellet drum) before the big reveal. Soldier 76 has been in the news quite a bit lately after being confirmed as gay. While some fans protested the announcement, more praised Blizzard for the move. It only seems fitting that he be the featured character for the Lunar New Year announcement.
Blizzard has yet to reveal any new content for the event, but fans should know what they can acquire soon enough. Leading up to Winter Wonderland 2018, the developer teased all of the themed content as the launch day approached. We should expect more news as we grow closer to January 24. The team at Don’t Feed The Gamers will be sure to keep you updated on all of the new skins, emotes, and other content as Blizzard makes them known.
Overwatch is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
