New Retro-Bit Sega Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast Accessories Announced
Even with the past year bringing new modern console gaming hardware from Nintendo and Microsoft, retro gaming is still a popular fixation among gaming culture. This was evident when the NES and Super NES both dominated news headlines with their announcements and rapid sales, as well as with new devices that play classic Sega and Atari games still being created. Sega is still very much in the nostalgic section of gamers’ minds, and as such, new Retro-Bit Sega accessories have been announced, which point back to the days of Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast.
Retro-Bit, known for creating hardware related to classic gaming consoles, have announced their new licensing agreement with Sega of America on their official website. The company has produced several devices in the past that play cartridges from Sega’s consoles, so it seems that their respect for Sega’s history has landed them with this new opportunity. As the President and CEO of Retro-Bit distributing company Innex Inc., Titi Ngoy, has said: “With retro gaming on an upswing, we are pleased to offer officially SEGA licensed accessories in their original format as well as apply the innovative classic gaming enhancements that have become the hallmark of Retro-Bit.”
Retro-Bit has confirmed that the first products to come from this agreement will be new controllers modeled after the original Sega Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast controllers which will have USB ports for PC compatibility, as well as Bluetooth functionality. Sega fans can expect to see these new controllers make their debut at CES 2018 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It’s nice to see continued support for gamers nostalgic for Sega’s old consoles. Hopefully though, maybe the Sega 32X stays forgotten in this agreement. What do you guys think about the new Retro-Bit Sega controllers being announced? Let us know in the comments below!
