More Mercy Changes Make Their Way To Overwatch’s Public Test Realm

More Mercy Changes

Blizzard’s Overwatch is in a constant state of changing and evolving into something that players want to keep coming back for more. At least, that is surely what the development team is always aiming for when they release new patches and try things in the Public Test Realm(PTR). Everyone’s favorite resident resurrection specialist has been receiving quite a bit of attention in recent updates, and with the latest patch hitting the PTR, even more Mercy changes have arrived.

The newest update is currently available in the PTR, which is exclusive to PC. However, Blizzard was kind enough to inform players on their blog that the same changes will also come to consoles “in a future patch”. The new Mercy changes focus on her Resurrect ability. The developer pointed out that the healer still felt a bit overpowered, leading to the nerfs detailed below. Here’s the outline of what’s been changed this time around, followed by what Blizzard had to say:

  • Resurrect
    • Cast time increased from 0 seconds to 1.75 seconds
    • Mercy’s movement speed is now reduced by 75% while casting
    • Can now be interrupted when Mercy is knocked back, stunned, or hacked
  • Valkyrie
    • When activated, Resurrection no longer has a cast time

We feel that Mercy’s recent rework has been successful, but her Resurrect ability still feels too strong and frustrating to play against. Now that it has a cast time, there is more room for enemies to counter the ability. However, casting Resurrect happens instantly when Valkyrie is active. This should make her feel powerful when she transforms on the battlefield.”

Mercy, of course, wasn’t the only healer to receive any changes. While it may be a little small, Ana’s Biotic Rifle’s damage has been improved from 60 to 70. According to the developer, this “will help her defend herself and make her more threatening to the enemy team. Needless to say, when Pharah’s mother says it’s time for bed, heroes go night-night.

The latest Overwatch patch is currently live in the PTR, with no word on when it will hit the game itself on PC or consoles. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news, check out the following:
