Monster Hunter World Presentation Shows Off Extensive Character and Palico Customization (VIDEO)
The Tokyo Game Show 2017 had a lot to show off this time around. From Square Enix’s new shooter Left Alive to Atlus’ teaser on the future of Shin Megami Tensei (SMT) franchise, it’s been a wild ride for Japanese RPG lovers everywhere. Of course, the Monster Hunter series is no different. During TGS this year, Capcom had a grand time showing off Monster Hunter World’s extensive character and Palico customization feature as well as awesome new equipment, beautiful environments, and adrenaline inducing, live-action gameplay. Even though the presentation is about an hour long, it certainly won’t disappoint those anticipating its release in January.
In the presentation by Capcom, seen in the video above, characters and their faithful Palico companions are fully customizable. From the colors of their feline companion’s coat, the color of their whiskers, shape of their ears, their snout, and more. Humans, on the other hand, offer even more custom modifications. Whether it’s the gaunt of your cheeks, the shape of your brows, eyes, and jawline – it’s all there for gamers to change as they please. Want to create a spritely old man with a ’70s porno stache? Unfortunately, for English speaking folks without fluency in Japanese, it can be difficult to follow what exactly the presenters and developers are talking about in the presentation, but the gameplay certainly makes for great hype. Not only is the world beautiful, diverse in plant life, and colorful, but the gameplay looks to be everything Monster Hunter fans have been waiting to see on non-handheld platforms. And it seems there’s even more to offer in Monster Hunter World.
The presentation also features some awesome gameplay of players attempting to take down the elder dragon Nergigante, which is the very same one shown on the box art for World’s hefty Collector’s Edition. Without a doubt, it will be one of the most trying challenges in the game. In recent news, Capcom has officially announced that Monster Hunter World will debut on January 26th, 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A release date for the PC version has not been announced yet.
