New Tomb Raider Announced, Will Use Unreal Engine 5
Lara Croft has been around in Tomb Raider since 1996 when players first followed the treasure hunter in all her polygonal glory. As technology has advanced over the years, the character has grown as well, becoming a more realistic and life-like character. As such Lara is an excellent measure of the progress of gaming, so it makes sense that the classic adventurer is now being put forward for her most intriguing upgrade yet. A new announcement has revealed that not only is another Tomb Raider title on the way, but the team at Crystal Dynamics will be using a new game engine to bring forth yet another impressive update to Lara Croft and the world she inhabits.
As per Epic Games’ recent Unreal Engine showcase, a new Tomb Raider title is now confirmed to be in development, though very little else was mentioned concerning the title. For now, the biggest change coming to the game is that it will be powered by Unreal Engine 5, the latest legendary game engine from the company of the same name. There was a tech demo last year that gave fans a glimpse into what the Engine is capable of and it’ll be no doubt be a welcome addition to the Tomb Raider series.
Where will Lara Croft’s journey take her next?

Unfortunately, there was no mention of what platforms players can expect to play the upcoming Tomb Raider title on, let alone when fans can expect to see a release. However, considering the engine’s versatility, perhaps Lara Croft won’t be missing any platforms this next time around. Where are you hoping the series goes next?
