Star Wars has long remained as one of the most utilized franchises for licensed video games, and that streak is not ending any time soon. The classic series has been able to embody everything from challenging action games like Jedi: Fallen Order, to more fun fare like the Lego Star Wars games. The latest Lego Star Wars entry, The Skywalker Saga, has promised an expansive encapsulation of all nine episodic Star Wars films in Lego form. Now, a new Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga behind the scenes video has been revealed that confirms features that hold true to the series’ lighthearted humor.

Warner Bros. Games has released a new Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga behind the scenes video on their official YouTube channel. The video features many of the developers from Tt Games that worked on the expansive project, and the amount of detail and care that went into it. The team worked closely with Lucasfilm to stay true to adapting the universe of Star Wars in such a comical way, and the Lego Company to make sure they are properly utilizing the famous plastic bricks that exist in our real world to recreate George Lucas’s creations. Their process of making Star Wars elements that have not yet been made as physical Lego toys has been revealed as well. The team also made sure to make use of modern technology to include numerous types of textures and lighting techniques.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will finally allow for players using Jedi and Sith characters to levitate objects as weapons. The team also included special modes that emphasize the series’s comical tone. New to the series is a “pew pew mode” that turns sound effects into voice actors mimicking sound effects as onomatapoeia. A “mumble mode” has all dialogue be nonsensical mumbling of iconic dialogue, much like the first Lego Star Wars games did to avoid using the original voice actors. The game is proving to be an ambitious take on the Star Wars saga, but Tt Games seems to be proving their merit as the proper heralds of the galaxy far, far away. Here’s just hoping they don’t make Gonk Droids overpowered in this one.
