Xbox Series X Lets Players Resume Games Immediately After A Reboot

We’ve heard a lot about the two next-generation consoles that are slated to release in Holiday 2020, though given how much there actually is to know about the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, we’ve barely even scratched the surface of what both consoles have to offer gamers. While the PS5 remains shrouded in mystery, Microsoft has unveiled a new feature for the Xbox Series X that once again takes aim at lengthy loading times.

The folks over at Microsoft revealed a ton of specs and details for the Xbox Series X earlier this week. That hasn’t been the only news source, though, as thanks to a recent podcast with Xbox Live director of programming Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, we now know that rebooting the console will barely impact a user’s gameplay experience.

I had to reboot because I had a system update and then I went back to the game and went right back to it. So it [definitely] survives a reboot.”

Major Nelson afterwards mentions that this will also be the case for when the console goes in standby mode, which should be pretty exciting news for you single player game lovers out there. Online titles will still need to reconnect to the internet following a reboot, though at least the wait won’t be weighed down by a clunky console.

Microsoft is bringing a lot to the table will all the latest info for the Xbox Series X. Here’s hoping Sony joins in with some official news of their own before interest in the PlayStation 5 dwindles. Both consoles are slated to release in Holiday 2020.
