Xbox Series X Release Date Leak Responded To By Microsoft
Though Microsoft has stated in the past that the Xbox Series X would be launching in the Holiday season of 2020, there was some concern that the console would get delayed due to the spread of COVID-19. A developer recently spoke up stating that the company hadn’t pulled the trigger on that decision but they were preparing themselves for it should the need arise. In the meantime, a recent leak has revealed a sooner-than-expected launch date for the Xbox Series X.
A recent post on Resetera shared an image (above) from the official Xbox product page for the Xbox Series X claiming that the console would be arriving on Thanksgiving of this year. While technically still part of the “Holiday” season, Geoff Keighley later released a Tweet stating that the release date has not been changed and that the developers are still looking at a Holiday release. This was again followed up by Larry Hyrb himself, explaining that the product page had been inaccurately listing the launch date in some regions. He assures fans that the company is “committed to launching Holiday 2020”.
UPDATE: Sources tell me the Xbox Series X release date is unchanged and still “Holiday 2020.” There is no announcement today about a release date.

An Xbox product page in some regions inaccurately listed the launch date for Xbox Series X as Thanksgiving 2020. We are committed to launching Holiday 2020

It’s a little sad that fans won’t be getting their hands on the powerful next-gen console sooner rather than later, but at the very least it looks like for the time being the plans haven’t changed amidst the COVID-19 chaos.
