Xbox Game Pass Rebranding Announced By Microsoft (UPDATED)

Microsoft has announced their premium console-branded gaming service Xbox Game Pass is also set to come to Windows 10 PC.

UPDATE: In the latest Xbox Game Pass Twitter post, Microsoft cleared up any confusion regarding the new logo. While the logo got a brand new look, the subscription service will remain as Xbox Game Pass rather than dropping the word “Xbox” altogether. The team provided completely apt imagery to drive it home – in socially distanced Comic Sans and all. Check it out below:

ORIGINAL:

Microsoft has been a busy bee as of late with tons of news including the pull of 12-month subscriptions for Xbox Live Gold, the Xbox Games Showcase, and more. To add to the lineup of related announcements, it looks like Microsoft is looking to rebrand Xbox Game Pass. Well, at least the name and logo anyway.

As small of a change as it may be, it looks as though Xbox Game Pass will be rebranded as Game Pass. This likely has to do with the inclusion of PC players to the subscription service, which is currently still in its beta phase. Unfortunately, the service is unlikely to launch on other platforms – a popular request being Nintendo Switch. Despite their relatively good business relationship, Phil Spencer mentioned that others aren’t particularly “interested in having a full Xbox experience in their hardware.

Regardless, Xbox Game Pass is thriving with its wide selection of video game titles that allow subscribers unlimited play at their own pace. It includes retro and modern titles and even recently released ones. As a matter of fact, games such as Halo Infinite, Grounded, and more will launch on the Xbox Game Pass the day it is released to the public. So there’s no delay in playing the latest games and makes a subscription all the more worthwhile! Sounds pretty good to me.
