The Witcher's Monster Hunter World Crossover Event Is Now Live, Ciri Included

Earlier this year, Capcom made the surprise announcement that CD Projekt RED’s Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series would be invading Monster Hunter World in a special crossover event. A game that is no stranger to collaborating with other video game series, the event was said to reportedly contain a unique questline featuring Geralt of Rivia himself, as well as, of course, an assortment of new monster hunting equipment for fans to collect. Now, as of today the event is finally live, and fans can officially get out there while playing Monster Hunter World and hang out with The Witcher.

The new crossover’s unique questline will be available only for hunters whose ranks are 16 or higher. “Starring legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia, once again voiced by Doug Cockle in the English version of the game, ‘Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest’ tasks the witcher with tracking down and dealing with a powerful force known as the Leshen,” revealed Capcom.

Defeating this mysterious creature will require the skills befitting a seasoned professional, and gamers will have at their disposal the White Wolf’s arsenal and abilities, including his silver sword and combat magic. Players will also engage in dialogues with other characters, influencing how the story unfolds through choices they make — a hallmark of The Witcher series.”

Naturally, fans can expect loads of goodies from completing this questline. One surprise addition though is the ability to obtain a few Ciri cosmetics, which makes the entire event all the more enticing. “Completing ‘Contract: Woodland Spirit’ will furthermore reward players with resources they’ll need to craft the armor and weapon set of Ciri — another iconic character from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” said Capcom.

For higher level players, there will also be a special multiplayer event for those rank 50 and above that will begin on February 15th at 1AM CET. This will pit players against a “much deadlier” version of the Leshen, so make sure you gobble down some delicious food before you attempt the fight. This event will only be available until March 1st, giving players only two weeks to try their luck at it.

Monster Hunter World is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
