Star Wars: Eclipse Delay Rumors Addressed By Quantic Dream

Star Wars: Eclipse is one of the more interesting takes we’ve seen on George Lucas’s universe in recent memory, with developer Quantic Dream paving the way for a new type of Star Wars story, based on the studio’s repertoire. It was previously rumored that the game wouldn’t be releasing until around 2024, though recently reports have indicated that the title’s release window had actually been pushed back to 2027. Quantic Dream has since issued a response to this, more or less stating that a release window that hasn’t been announced yet technically can’t be delayed.

In a recent email to GamesRadar, a representative for Quantic Dream denied rumors that the internal release window for Star Wars: Eclipse had been pushed back by effectively saying that one cannot delay what has yet to be announced. “Star Wars Eclipse has not been delayed because Quantic Dream never announced or promised a launch window for the title,” the spokesperson said. “Recruiting remains active as it works on Star Wars Eclipse, third-party publishing, and unannounced projects.”

Following the rep’s statement, the email references an announcement recently made by Quantic Dream stating that the studio’s workforce increased by 50% this past year and enjoyed “very good financial results.” The studio bulking up its team due to ongoing projects and the announcement of such an ambitious Star Wars game makes sense, though one can’t help but assume that most of the new staff will be working on Eclipse.
