The Witcher Showrunner Teases How Geralt And Ciri Change Each Other During Season 2
With Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher series seemingly resuming production soon, we’ve begun to learn some new and exciting details regarding what’s to come, primarily through showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich herself. Earlier this month, Hissrich spoke about her favorite Season 2 characters, revealing her excitement to bring Geralt of Rivia’s earlier years – and as such, his Witcher brethren – to life on the small screen. This of course won’t be the only facet of Season 2, with Hissrich recently opening up about how the show will explore the new relationship between Geralt and Ciri throughout the new season. Light spoilers for The Witcher Season 1 below:
“What I think is really fun about Geralt and Ciri is they are the most unexpected family you can imagine,” Lauren S. Hissrich said in a recent interview with The Wrap. “You have a witcher whose sole job is to kill things for money and you have a little girl who is trying to escape her past and it’s like, how do they come together? And to me, one of the most fun things we get to explore in Season 2 now is how they get to change and shift each other.
Coming out of Season 1, you have a pretty good sense of who Ciri is, you have a pretty good sense of who Geralt is. And now we get to throw that all in a blender and see what happens when two people who are completely different have to be forced together in circumstances. And I think it’s really fun. It’s not always pretty. They will argue. They will fight. It will be two strangers coming together for the first time and being told, ‘Nope, you’re gonna be together forever.'”
Hissrich concluded her statement on the relationship between Geralt and Ciri by revealing that the growth they experience becoming father and daughter is one of her “favorite parts of the series.” Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher series is expected to resume production soon.
